Silvia Bueso likes to describe herself as an “ask-cologist”, an expert in the Art of Asking. She is a passionate fundraiser, speaker, leader, trainer and certified professional Co-Active coach (CPCC, PCC). She helps fundraising leaders and social causes effectively make the ask in a way that allows them to achieve their goals and objectives. She teaches easy-to-use techniques and methodologies that enable long-term relationships between the donors and the causes they care about.
Silvia is the author of the book ‘El arte de pedir para conseguir tus objetivos’ (The art of asking to achieve your objectives), which has been well received by the general public and the media. The book is available in Spanish and shortly will be translated into English.
As a passionate expert in the art of asking, Silvia has held senior positions at ESADE Business School Foundation where she raised millions of € from individuals, corporations, and philanthropists. Silvia’s passion for fundraising started when she was 16 years old and was studying for one year in Sacramento High School in California. Together with other students, Silvia raised funds from the closest communities to rebuild the campus by selling chocolate bars and by organizing fundraising events.
During the last 15 years, Silvia worked in the communication arena from different perspectives. She developed the corporate communications and change management strategies influencing top multinational companies. At the international level, Silvia coordinated projects for media companies in Spain and Latin America. She produced the first easy to understand business TV show in Spain reaching an audience of over a million people.
Silvia’s clients say that her energy and wiliness to transform and take risks is highly contagious. Her speaking, coaching, and training practices mainly focus on teaching the art of asking for fundraising leaders and nonprofit institutions. Silvia takes No as a response from donors as her best friend. The negotiation starts when the magic word No is pronounced. Silvia strongly believes that being a fundraiser requires being emotionally prepared to manage yourself and to develop a strong connection with the donor making powerful questions to reveal common areas of interest. Silvia’s aim is to help fundraising leaders understand that fundraising requires a friend-raising attitude with a huge sense of services for a common cause.
Multiculturalism is a keyword to Silvia. She speaks 5 languages: Spanish, Catalan, English, French and Italian after travelling and working internationally for many years. Silvia holds law and journalism degrees from both the University of Barcelona (UB) and Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) in Barcelona. Silvia also completed an executive management program at ESADE Business School and is a graduate of CTI’s 10-month Leadership program.
Silvia belongs to many associations and communities where she serves as a mentor and coach. Silvia believes that giving and serving others is the best way to express gratitude. The ‘giving-back’ medicine keeps her happy, fulfilled and always wearing a smile. Silvia’s energy is a combination of being a shaker and being serene. Her values are freedom, transformation, and playfulness. She lives in Barcelona with her partner and two sons.
